This week, the X factor hopefuls are all set in Wembley Arena to face the famously, completely and utterly brutal Six Chair Challenge. First up to face this challenge are the girls and expect that Rita will have some tough decisions to make.
First to perform is Katie Coleman 21 from Darlington, Her song choice is ‘The Voice Within’ by Christina Aguilera. She does okay, but it seems the judges are not blown away making her the first act to sent out by Rita.
Next is Karen Mav 23 from Stevenage, She perform ‘I’d Rather Go Blind’ by Etta James. The the audience and judges loved her performance and Karen gets the very first seat.
Third is Chloe Baker 21-year-old dance teacher from Liverpool, Rita decides that Chloe has sass and presence, and gives her a seat.
Monica Michael 25 from North London who joined last year but only got as far as the Six Chair Challenge but this year she finally get a seat.
Next up is Sharon Rose 26 from Essex, has a lovely voice and emotionally perform ‘Let It Go’ by James Bay. Nick comments he has goosebumps, and Cheryl says it’s her best audition to date. Simon tells her he’ll be honest, he hadn’t remembered her, and he doesn’t think she could win. However, Rita gives her a seat then Sharon turns to Simon as she takes her chair and says “you will NOT forget me again, I promise you” in a vaguely menacing fashion.
Next is Chloe Paige 21 from Brighton. Chloe sings an a capella version of ‘Amazing Grace’. Nick didn’t remember her but now he’d never forget her again. Simon loved it and felt it possibly should earn her a place at the final! Rita comments that Chloe’s stage presence worries her, but decides to give her a seat.
Next up is 17 year old Charli Beard from Hull. She sings ‘Love You I Do’ by Jennifer Hudson. She got a good voice and gets good feedback from the judges giving her the last seat.
Next is my favorite for the girls category, Louisa Johnson 17 from Essex. Her version of ‘And I Am Telling You’ captured the audience giving her the first standing ovation for this category and the judges all thought it was incredible.
The crowd are chanting “SWAP SWAP SWAP SWAP SWAP” then Rita decide to swap her to Chloe, the dance teacher. Chloe handles it with grace but it’s very difficult to watch. We feel very sorry for her.
Next up is 21-year-old Havva Rebke from Enfield. She works in a shop, and customers are always commenting that she’s singing when she’s working. Havva showed an interesting performance of ‘No Diggity’. Rita gives her a seat and swap out Charli.
Next up we have Kiera Weathers 18 from St Helens, who is singing ‘I Will Always Love You’, which her mum always used to sing to her. There’s a standing ovation and the judges love it. Simon knows what she is going through and found the performance very emotional. Rita decides to swap her with Karen. Karen is extremely upset and tells Rita “I worked so hard” through tears. It’s horrible to watch.
Next up we have Kellie Mai 23 from Blackpool singing ‘Because the Night’ by Patti Smith. It doesn’t sound great and forgets her lyrics. Sadly, She doesn’t get a seat, but she takes it well.
Lucy Duffield 26 from Essex is next to perform with her version of ‘Natural Woman’ by Aretha Franklin. Lucy sings really well, receiving a good feedback from the judges. Rita swaps out Sharon Rose for Lucy. Sharon walks off with a wave and holds it strong.
Second to the last to perform is Sophie Plumb22 from Croydon. She’s a full time mum to a very cute baby. She sings ‘Turning Tables’ by Adele very well. At this point I can say this is a strong category. Rita likes Sophie, she has drive and has worked hard, but she got a NO!
Finally, we have Lauren Murray 25 year old Dental Receptionist from Essex. Lauren sing ‘Say You Love Me’ by Jessie Ware. Kiera’s facial expression when hearing Lauren sing is an absolute picture. Kiera does NOT want to lose that seat. Lauren sounds very good.
The judges love it – Nick comments that Lauren has the full package, and Cheryl thinks the vocal is great. Simon thought at one point she might be losing it, but really likes her as a contestant. Rita makes the decision to give Lauren a seat, and swaps her for Lucy, who has only just got one.
And that’s it! We’re all done with the girls Six Chair Challenge. So our final girls category are Monica Michael, Chloe Paige, Louisa Johnson, Havva Rebke, Kiera Weathers and Lauren Murray.
The X Factor continues the Six Chair Challenge next Sunday (October 11) at 7pm on ITV.
